The Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection – KOMF has held a webinar on the topic: “Media reporting for children”. The purpose of the webinar was the joint discussion with journalists and professionals mandated for child protection, on media ethical reporting in cases where children are involved.

Despite the good intentions of journalists in reporting cases where children are involved, especially child victims, in some cases these reports do not take into account the legal basis, standards and ethical principles for child protection. Also, the evidence shows that even by professionals with a mandate to protect children, there have been violations related to reporting on vulnerable children. KOMF considers it is very important to discuss with journalists and professionals mandated for child protection about media reporting based on standards and the best interests of the child.
