Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science, Technology, Innovation, Culture, Youth and Sports and KOMF held a roundtable discussion on “Integration of policies and services for dealing with violence against children, with a focus on schools”. The purpose of this roundtable was to discuss models for integrating policies and services for the prevention and treatment of violence against children.
The keynote speakers were: Ardian Gola, Chairman of the Committee on Education, Arbërie Nagavci, Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Larissa Bruun, UNICEF Office in Kosovo and Petrit Tahiri, Member of the Board of KOMF.
While, part of the discussion panel were: Eldin Gashi, student, Ymret Rushiti, Chairman of the Kosovo Parents’ Council, Samir Shahini, Chairman of the Collegium for Education – Association of Municipalities, Blerim Shabani, Chairman of the Association of Centers for Social Work and Nilgyn Kosovo from Kosovo Police.
Some of the main recommendations addressed by the participants in this roundtable were: increase the reporting of cases of violence, increase the monitoring and accountability of service providers, provide integrated services between the education, social services and health sector, increase the number and capacity of psychologists, pedagogues and support staff in schools, approval of the specific grant for social services and the application of positive parenting programs.
