Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection – KOMF which represents 34 non-governmental organizations expresses its concern about the interruption of teaching in the education system in Kosovo.
Without disputing the reasons or intentions of the protest, we consider that these repeated interruptions of the regular teaching process are contrary to the fundamental right of the child to education and contrary to the best interest of the child.
KOMF recognizes the right to protest and strike as rights guaranteed by legislation, but considers that the continuous interruptions of the educational process have damaged and are damaging the regular teaching process and children’s learning. Delays in the process of learning and education of children will leave significant consequences in their development.
The Covid-19 pandemic has damaged the educational process in Kosovo. Recent reports indicate short-term and long-term learning losses in the learning process.
The education situation in Kosovo has deteriorated significantly in recent years, consequently KOMF considers that the interruption of the learning process will further worsen the condition of children and their development.
Therefore, we as KOMF, call on all parties in this process to find a common solution and create sustainable education in Kosovo, so that in the future there is no loss of learning and students continue to learn without interruption.
