KOMF and KNK: If classes do not start today, about 320.000 pupils will be denied the basic right to education

The Coalition of NGOs for the Protection of Children – KOMF and the Council of Students of Kosovo: If classes do not start today on September 1st, about 320.000 students will be denied the basic right to education. Among them, the right to education will be denied to about 25.000 children who are yet waiting to sit in the school benches for the first time.

Denial of education is a violation of the fundamental right of the child, guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and the International Convention on the Rights of the Child.

KOMF calls on the parties in this process to have the best interest of the child as the main consideration, to find a common solution, since the interruption of education harms children the most.
