The Working Group within the Kosovo Police, supported by KOMF, has finalized the Standard Operating Procedure and form for imposing a diversity measure for minors in conflict with the law “Police Warning”.
The Police Warning measure, according to the Juvenile Justice Code, is imposed on a minor as a first-time offender for criminal offenses for which a fine or imprisonment of up to three years is foreseen. The police warning as a diversity measure is imposed by a police officer with the permission of the state prosecutor for minors.
This marks an important moment and affects the improvement of the juvenile justice system, aiming at preventing judicial proceedings, the rehabilitation and reintegration of minors into the community and the prevention of recidivist behavior.
The drafting of the Standard Operating Procedure and the form for issuing a “Police Warning” is supported within the framework of the project “Protection of Vulnerable Children in Kosovo”, which is financially supported by the European Union in Kosovo and implemented by the Unicef Kosovo Programme in cooperation with the Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection – KOMF.
