Child Labour destroys childhood

Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection – KOMF, in partnership with Terre des hommes Kosovo, has organized the awareness-raising installation “Child Labour destroys childhood”, on the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labor.

The installation aimed to raise public awareness of the worst forms of child labor and the devastating consequences they bring to their health and well-being, as well as to promote institutional responsibility, to increase attention and take concrete actions towards the elimination of worst forms of child labor in Kosovo.

The Administrative Instruction on the Prevention and Prohibition of Hazardous Forms of Child Labor in Kosovo defines the list of hazardous forms of child labor, which include: work in construction, work in landfills, work on the street, work in agriculture and forestry, etc.

Every person has a legal obligation to report any information received regarding the suspicion that a child is involved in hazardous forms of work. The identification and referral can be made by the child for the child, as well as by the child himself.

Any person who identifies a child who is at risk or is a victim of involvement in one of the hazardous forms of work, must notify the Police or the Center for Social Work.

This activity is carried out within the framework of the national intervention “MEGAFON – Empowering the Voice of Children and Youth in Kosovo”, supported by the regional project “SMART Balkans – Civil Society for Shared Values in the Western Balkans” implemented by the Center for the Promotion of Civil Society (CPCD) in cooperation with the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM), and the Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM) and financially supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NMFA).
