Donjeta Kelmendi from KOMF and Valbona Çitaku from Shpresa dhe Shtepi per Femijet – SDSF member in KOMF were hosted in a meeting by the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Skender Reçica to discuss the financing of social services, the uncovered gaps between calls and the risk of temporary closure of shelters in January 2021 due to lack of financing.

Minister Reçica declared that he will take the necessary measures according to the law and the competencies of MLSW to ensure the financing of shelters and as a result there will be no closure of services in these shelters.

Also, regarding the time gaps between MLSW public calls for financing social services provided by non-governmental organizations, MLSW will consider the possibility that future calls in 2021 will be made for periods of 12 months in order to avoid these gaps.

In this meeting was also discussed the great importance of proceeding with the Law on Local Government Finance, which would provide a long-term solution for the financing of social services through the Specific Grant for Social Services.
