Donjeta Kelmendi and Ibadete Krasniqi from KOMF met with Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu and the Chief of the Cabinet of the ministry, Genc Nimoni.

During the meeting it was discussed to advance child protection in frame of draft Civil Code, focusing on issues related to child rights, deadlines in adoption procedures, foster and residential care, as well as empowerment of the protection system of children victims.

KOMF representatives expressed concern on the institutional negligence in treating cases of victims of sexual abuse, especially negligence of the prosecution office in treating such cases. MJ representatives stressed they will work toward increase of accountability aiming for these cases to be treated urgently.

KOMF also raised the need to monitor the Correctional Center in Lipjan aiming to observe conditions for minors in this facility. The minister Haxhiu expressed the immediate need for institutional coordination and offered the ministry cooperation to monitor the Correctional Center in Lipjan.
