KOMF representatives met the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Arbërie Nagavci to discuss on the cooperation to advance children’s rights in education, focusing in early childhood.
KOMF introduced the main issues based on the Recommendation Policy for development in early childhood, such as stopping the usage of the current set of books for preschool aged children or their modification with didactic materials, considering this set as inappropriate for this age. Another issue regarded the fact that preschool curricula should include also pre primary class. Also Law on Education in Early Childhood should perform a deep reform, integrating services for early childhood development among the sectors, developing of alternative programs, ensuring child protection etc.
The minister thanked KOMF for the contribution and offered her support in this direction. She vowed that early childhood education and programs offered for this age, will be one of her priorities. She vowed to create a working group to draft a strategy on how to address this issue and to come up with concrete recommendations. Minister Nagavci also vowed to engage in increasing the number of children attendance in early education. She vowed to engage in further addressing these requests and to improve conditions for children in early childhood education.
