KOMF visited HANDIKOS

1 June 2021

KOMF attended the activity organized by its member NGO, HANDIKOS, in frame of the campaign “Be my shield” which aims promotion of reporting violence against children.

Evidence shows that 8% of children aged 2 – 17 years old in Kosovo, are reported to have functional difficulties in at least one domain. Only 10% of children with disabilities in Kosovo benefit from social and health services. From around 43.000 children with disabilities, only 5,300 attend school in regular public schools in Kosovo.

These children suffer the lack of physical access in institutions where they receive needed services for their health and wellbeing such as health, educational and social institutions. Physical barriers are a huge challenge that automatically excludes them from receiving services for their rehabilitation and wellbeing.

KOMF appeals toward Kosovo government to engage and intervene immediately to improve the situation and wellbeing of these children.
