KOMF visited the member organization Handikos Gjakovë, which is the main organization that provides professional services for children and adults with disabilities in the Municipality of Gjakovë and works continuously to raise awareness of participation in public life for people with disabilities.
During the meeting, KOMF members visited the spaces of the Handikos Gjakovë Day Center, including rooms for workshops, physiotherapy, ergo-therapy, games, fitness, courses, etc., and were informed about the activities that are organized in this center with children with disabilities.
In addition to providing quality services by a competent multidisciplinary team, the Handikos center is also a model and good practice to be replicated in other municipalities. This is due to its location near the kindergarten, school, ambulance and bus station, making this center a true community-based center. The purpose of the visits to the member organizations is to highlight the issues that should be raised at the level of the institutional debate, in order to ensure stable and quality services for vulnerable children.
