The Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection in Kosovo – KOMF in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare is holding a two-day workshop on the Draft Law on Social and Family Services which is currently in the public consultation phase.

This two-day workshop addressed specific comments and recommendations provided by KOMF member organizations regarding foster care, residential housing, and family and community services for vulnerable children.

On the first day of the workshop, participants discussed about the forms of child protection. Representatives from KOMF member organizations went through all the relevant articles of the draft law, shared their concerns and gave relevant recommendations on how these articles can be improved in order to ensure a better protection system when it comes to children without parental care who are sheltered in alternative forms of protection.

While during the second day, participants discussed on about daily social services provided to vulnerable groups of children. This discussion focused on the services provided in the family and the services provided within day care centers.

Just like on the first day, the group went through all the articles of the draft law related to the daily services for children in need, addressing amendments and the need to change them.

In the end, participants agreed with Ministry representatives to submit all the comments discussed during these two days to the Ministry, and after the public consultation phase, to organize a close group meeting in order to incorporate the main recommendations in the draft law.

During this workshop participated representatives from the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, representatives of KOMF member organizations and legal experts.

This activity is made possible under the project “Joint Action for Decentralization”, funded by the European Union, managed by the EU Office in Kosovo and implemented by the Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection in Kosovo – KOMF in partnership with the Organization for Children without Parental Care – OFAP, SOS Children’s Villages Kosovo and KMOP.
