Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection in Kosovo – KOMF, in cooperation with forumZFD and Kosovo Education Center – KEC, through EIDHR projects funded by the European Union and managed by the European Union Office in Kosovo, held today the ceremony of annual awards for journalism in the field of protection of children’s rights in Kosovo.

The opening ceremony was made by Mrs. Donjeta Kelmendi, Executive Director at KOMF, who then, for the welcome speech invited Mr. Libor Chlad, Deputy Head of Cooperation of the European Union Office in Kosovo / EU Special Representative. Mrs. Eglantina Kraja Bardhi, Member of the Evaluation Committee, presented the report of the Committee for journalist’s stories. Except for the assessment of these stories, she thanked the organizers, and appealed that this event shoul serve in the future as well, for journalists working in the field of protection of children’s rights in Kosovo.

Evaluation of the stories of journalism that applied in this competition was made by the panel composed of Evliana Berani – Professor of Journalist in “Pjetër Budi” College, Eglantina Kraja Bardhi – Professor of Psychology in “Fama” College and Imer Mushkolaj – Professor of Journalist in “Pjetër Budi” College.

The prizes for the best stories of 2018 in the field of children’s rights were awarded as follows:

Journalist Kaltrina Rexhepi of RTK, with the topic ” Fëmija nënë” (Mother child) won the annual Award 2018, which was awarded by Mr. Libor Chlad, the Deputy Head of Cooperation of the European Union Office in Kosovo / EU Special Representative.

The journalist Edona Kutleshi from Koha Ditore with the topic “Rrugës së rrezikshme malore për tu shkolluar” (Through the dangerous mountain road toward school) won the Annual Award 2018 which was awarded by Mr. Hilmi Jashari, Ombudsperson.

The journalist Fesim Kabashi from RTK, with the topic “Ndëshkimi” (Punishment), won the Annual Award 2018, which was awarded by Mrs. Vjollca Islami Hajrullahu, forumZFD.

Journalist Emirjeta Vllahiu from Kallxo.com, with the topic “Shtesa prej 10 euro nuk mbulon shpenzimet esenciale për rritjen e fëmijëve” (The child benefit of 10 euro does not cover the essential costs for child growth) won the Annual Award 2018, which was awarded by Mrs. Ardita Kabashi, KEC.

The group of journalists: Agnesa Çitaku, Ertan Galushi, Mërgim Rudari, Fatjona Mani dhe Valon Fana from Kallxo.com, with the topic “Mes dëshirës dhe pamundësisë për shkollim” (Between the desire and impossibility for education) won the Annual Award 2018, which was awarded by Mr. Burim Behluli, President of the Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection.

KOMF, Forum ZFD and KEC thank all media representatives, authors and journalists who have continuously shown their readiness to cooperate on behalf of the protection of children’s rights in Kosovo.
